I approach yoga through the lens of wabi sabi, a Japanese aesthetic philosophy that seeks beauty in imperfection. Our lives are unpredictable and our bodies are put through rigors that no one had dreamed of when Yoga was invented - things like Cross Fit or sitting in chairs in front of computers for 8 hours a day. For this reason I believe it is important to approach Yoga through the paradigm in which we live and offer ourselves and our Self more compassion and forgiveness when it comes to spiritual embodiment. You may not have time to stand in Vriksasana all day in the flowing waters of Ganges, but as long as you are reaching for your highest good, you're doing pretty awesome in my opinion.
